Emergency repairs on SR 20 near Rockport begin Wednesday, Nov. 29

(ROCKPORT)– Travelers who use State Route 20 about four miles east of Rockport should prepare for possible 30-minute daytime traffic delays starting tomorrow, Nov. 29.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will repair the eastbound lane of SR 20 after rising river waters eroded a portion of the bank below the highway during the Thanksgiving holiday.

One-way traffic will continue to alternate through the westbound lane using a temporary traffic signal. However, travelers should prepare for up to 30-minute delays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through the weekend. With the eastbound lane currently closed to traffic, crews will work in the westbound lane and need the delays to allow trucks to enter and leave the area safely.

Contractor crews will provide an update on the upcoming working hours and traffic delays early next week. The contractor anticipates completing the emergency repair work before Christmas, but more wet weather could delay the repair process.
