Feedback requested on potential changes to Guemes Island Ferry operations
(SKAGIT COUNTY)- The Skagit County Public Works Department is requesting feedback on potential changes to the Guemes Island Ferry operations, including eliminating the midday service gap, adding later evening runs, and providing web-based ticket sales. The community is encouraged to provide feedback on the potential changes by completing an online survey and attending a live community forum scheduled for November 7, 2019 at 6:00 PM at the Guemes Island Community Center.
The online survey and community forum is part the work being done by Skagit County Public Works in partnership with the BERK and KPFF consulting groups to evaluate current and future ferry operations and services. Feedback will be used to determine how best to address the future needs and interests of the community.
The community forum will take place at 6:00 PM on Thursday November 7, 2019 at the Guemes Island Community Center located at 7549 Guemes Island Road, Anacortes, WA 98221. Representatives from Skagit County Public Works, BERK Consulting, and KPFF Engineering will address the potential changes to the ferry system and the likely cost of implementation.
The online survey will be available starting Thursday, November 7th following the community forum at www.publicinput.com/5799. Responses will be accepted through Thursday, December 5th. The survey details the potential ferry system changes and the estimated cost of implementation, including adjustments to ferry ticket prices.
