Police continue to investigate a homicide in Mount Vernon

(MOUNT VERNON)- According to a press release from the Mount Vernon Police Department, police were called to the 2100 Block of E. College Way to the report of a gunshot victim at 6:08 p.m. on Sunday night. On arrival they located a deceased male inside the business complex on the north side of the building.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., on Monday, investigative information led to a residence in the 3300 block of Northwest Avenue in Bellingham. Officers from the Bellingham Police Department assisted investigators in locating and arresting a 20-year old Bellingham man. A search warrant was served at the address on Northwest Avenue, and evidence was collected.

The suspect has since been transported to Mount Vernon and booked into the Skagit County Community Justice Center for Investigation of Murder Second Degree and Robbery First Degree.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending confirmation and notification of family, by the Skagit County Coroner’s office.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Mount Vernon Police Department.
