Two nights of maintenance paving in Mount Vernon start Tuesday, Aug. 4

(MOUNT VERNON)– Two overnight maintenance paving projects are planned near Mount Vernon on State Route 538/College Way and SR 20/North Cascades Highway starting Tuesday, Aug. 4.

SR 538/College Way Paving will take place from 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, with eastbound SR 538 traffic shifting into the center lane between Leigh Drive and Windsor Drive (milepost 1), according to a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation.

SR 20/North Cascades Highway Paving will take place from 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, to 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, the right lane of westbound SR 20 will close near Farm to Market Road (milepost 54).

This work needs dry weather, and one or more nights may be rescheduled if rain is forecast.

People traveling in the area should plan for delays, use caution in the lane shift and do their part to keep the road crew safe by slowing down and removing distractions.
