Cardinals capture 2026 NWAC Men’s Golf Championship

(YAKIMA, Wash.)— The Skagit Valley College men's golf team captured the 2026 NWAC Men's Golf Championship on May 18th at Apple Tree Golf Course, securing the program's second NWAC title and first since 2005.

The Cardinals edged regular season champion Bellevue College by two strokes, finishing with a team score of +6, according to SVC. Skagit Valley entered the final round with a six-stroke advantage after day one and held off a strong Bellevue comeback attempt, despite Bellevue posting an impressive -7 team score during the second round. The Cardinals responded with a strong performance of their own, shooting -3 on day two to secure the championship.

Leading the way for Skagit Valley was NWAC Baden Men's Golfer of the Year Logan Medcalf, who fired a tournament-low 68 in the final round after battling difficult wind conditions with a 75 in round one. Medcalf's performance helped anchor a complete team effort from the Cardinals.

Broden Toney and Michael Hoagland each tied for second overall with matching even-par tournament scores, while Mason Acker added a top-10 finish, tying for 10th overall at +7.

Following the championship season, Skagit Valley head coach Daniel Graber was named NWAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year, earning the honor in his first NWAC championship season as head coach.

On the women's side, the Cardinal Women's Golf team, led by Head Coach Kalan Smith, finished tied for second place — matching the program's best NWAC Championship finish since 2007. Jada May placed 5th individually, while Kiana Schroeder and Malia Schroeder each finished among the top 11 competitors.

SVC Athletics will honor the championship men's golf program with a Banner Reveal Celebration in the coming weeks. Please follow SVC Athletics on social media and the athletics website for details regarding the upcoming celebration.
